Looking to mix up you’re spotify playlists? Here are a few bands I’ve been jamming to a lot this week!
Coast Modern: This music is perfect for when you’re having a good day or clocking out of work. Love their album art. Still waiting on a new album from them, but the replay-ability of their album “Coast Modern” keeps me listening 3 years after its release.
Glass Animals: OOOOOH baby. My good friend Jack-Ryan (not jack, not ryan, it’s jack-ryan) showed me this band before we went to Austin City Limits back in 2018. I didn’t really understand what I was hearing when I saw them live, but the killed it. Somewhere in the middle of indie, pop, edm, and abstract art, lies Glass Animals. The lyrics are real shit people deal with every day. My only problem is there arent enough Glass animals Songs. Dreamland is their latest album and it is so good. Exploded when it hit the scene but their older stuff is well worth the deep-ish dive.
The Hives : Early 2000’s Swedish Rock, I know everyone’s favorite. I Find myself listening to them when I’m doing cardio. Fast paced, clever, pissed. Found out about them when I was younger watching an end of summer commercial on cartoon network. The song was “fall is just something grown up invent” and I’ve been hooked ever since. The lack of love the hives receives is criminal. Their album “Veni Vidi Vicious” is a perfect album in my mind. These guys dont fuckin miss.
Sakuran-Zensen: This band. Thiiiiiiis band is so good. Japanese based punk rock band that literally hits so hard its amazing. They don’t speak very good English but they play American punk rock better than most bands. Amazing they absolutely shred even on the harmonica. They’re hard to find since I don’t know Japanese letters but I just search their song “London Boots” also a great starting point.
